Chinese Side Dish

Hello guys, this time I will discuss about side dishes originating from China, namely Scallion Pancakes, Chinese Spring Rolls, and Dimsum Beancurd. 

*Scallion Pancakes also known as scallion pancakes or "green onion pancakes" are Chinese flatbreads, savory, tossed with oil and chopped scallions (green onions). The unique characteristic of leaf pancakes is the many layers that make up the inside, which helps contribute to their chewy texture. The ingredients we use to make Scallion Pancakes are flour, water, yeast, sugar, scallion, baking soda, five spice powder, Sichuan pepper powder, salt and oil.

*Chinese Spring Rolls are said to have originated in China and are usually eaten to start the first day of spring. The habit of enjoying spring rolls has been known since the Jin Dynasty (266-420 BC), at first it was not like the spring rolls we know today. In the past, spring rolls were shaped like cakes or martabak, so they were also known as spring cakes. Spring roll until now is a type of street food that is easily found in various places such as the morning market or at the night market, especially in Taiwan, China. The ingredients we use to make Chinese Spring Rolls are spring roll skin, minced chicken, cabbage, carrots, scallions, sesame oil, oyster sauce, soy sauce, egg white, salt and duck sauce. 

* Dimsum Beancurd (tofu skin) rolls are packed with savory crunchy mushrooms, carrots, which blend with delicious tofu and vegetables. It is then rolled in beancurd or yuba sheets, deep-fried, then steamed to perfection with umami sauce. The ingredients used are tofu skin, ear mushrooms, shitake mushrooms, carrots, coriander leaves, tofu, cornna, sugar, salt, mushroom broth, sesame oil. The seasoning sauce consists of ginger, green onions, soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, mushroom broth, water and pepper.
